Security Escort

Location: Savannah River Site (SRS), Aiken, SC 

Compensation: $20+ per hour

Position Overview:

Under direct supervision, performs safety and security job functions as assigned by management. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties:

  • Greets and signs in/out un-cleared visitors entering and leaving the site in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure that un-cleared visitors and subcontractors are working to proper site security plans.
  • Check identification for all incoming persons and ensure all persons have a proper badge with appropriate access levels.
  • Maintain continuous visual, audible, and/or physical control of un-cleared personnel while in security areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary in accordance with all applicable procedure and security requirements.
  • React to all alarms and emergencies, contracting the proper persons as per security procedure.
  • Coordinate all paperwork including any incident reports, daily logs and other items as required.
  • Maintained current knowledge and awareness of security plans, emergency and operation procedures.
  • Operate all vehicles in a safe and efficient way according to all laws, policies and procedures (this includes having a current, valid driver’s license).
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding post directives.
  • Must be capable of understanding and retaining complex oral instructions, as well as recognizing and adjusting to changes in the work environment.


Working Conditions:

Work in an environment that is ever-changing, which includes inside and outside assignments where one might be exposed to natural elements such as rain, ice, snow, and heat. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be capable of standing of extended periods of time (10 or more hours)
  • Must be able to walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to work in high places (i.e. roofs)
  • Must have eyesight that is correctable to a minimum of 20/40
  • Must have hearing that is correctable to a minimum 35 decibels above average at frequencies of 500, 1000, and 2000 hertz
  • Ability to maintain alertness
  • Must possess a DOE “L” or "Q" clearance or an active DOD (secret or top secret) security clearance. Active DOE clearance preferred.
  • Three (3) months experience performing work in a public safety and/or security-related position

Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Design Engineer

Location:  Greenville, SC; Hybrid supporting the Savannah River Site (SRS) located in Aiken, SC.

Compensation: $71.63 to $76.44/Hour

Mission: Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) located at the Savannah River Site (SRS) will construct the SRPPF through repurposing the unfinished Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF), Building 226-F. Repurposing this facility in F-Area allows the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to make use of an existing seismically-qualified structure, with numerous supporting facilities, including office, assembly and fabrication space; construction facilities; and existing SRS services and infrastructure, such as security, fire protection and emergency response.


Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering

work as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering

assignment of intermediate complexity.

  • Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity in accordance with project requirements
  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria
  • Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexity
  • Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clients
  • Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures
  • Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselines
  • Establish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts 
  • Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor · submittals
  • Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Job Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering field and minimum five (5) years of work-related experience
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards
  • Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs 
  • Experience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on commercial or industrial projects
  • Proficiency executing EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-discipline environment


Discipline Specific Job Requirements:

  • Perform a broad range of I&C design activities, including design definition, control systems architecture and development, digital systems, PLC, DCS, network configuration, logic development, network switches, process controls, P&ID development support and review,
  • HMI, communication protocols, routing, and layout, SIL, and procurement activities
  • Prepare and modify instrument and control systems design documents (e.g., instrument datasheets, Input/Output wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, logic diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument installation details)
  • Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and other instrumentation
  • Create instrument index and datasheets and generate reports in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation database
  • Develop intermediate complexity control systems narrative specification
  • Develop basic control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagrams
  • Represent control systems and participate in model reviews
  • Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic
  • Controller (PLC) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications; monitor DCS/PLC/SIS design developed by the design group


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer license
  • Practical field experience
  • EPC project experience for the following industries:
    • U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency
    • Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program
    • Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology
  • Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation
  • Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)
  • Intermediate knowledge of:
    • Specifying instrumentation
    • Control systems procurement activities
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) representation; can recognize/report problems associated with control systems representation on P&ID
    • Developing control strategies and represent on P&ID
    • Instrument design and installation requirements

HVAC Engineer

Location:  Greenville, SC; Hybrid supporting the Savannah River Site (SRS) located in Aiken, SC.

Compensation: $76.55 to $86.17/Hour

Process/Mechanical Engineer

Compensation: $87.83 - $97.68/Hour

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate electrical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects
  • Prepare and modify electrical design drawings (e.g., single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagram layouts, raceway, lighting, and grounding)
  • Properly interpret and apply National, State, and Local codes and standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design/construction documents, specifications, and system descriptions related to assigned tasks
  • Prepare engineering cost and schedules estimates
  • Generate and review the accuracy of design/evaluation calculations, and specifications

Discipline Specific Job Requirements:

  • Has a complete understanding of Communications & Security Systems drawings
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist recognizes and resolves problems on drawings between design groups, follows resolutions through on all affected drawings and keeps other departments informed of equipment locations and space support requirements.
  • Design Specialist is to refer all unresolved conflicts to a higher classification for resolution
  • Interprets and applies codes, job procedures, standards and specifications
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist uses applicable codes, job procedures, standards and specifications and has interpreted, understood, and correctly applied them to the job
  • Has a complete knowledge of materials and equipment
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist has sufficient knowledge of
  • Communications & Security Systems material and equipment (including a good understanding of Supplier catalogs) and uses this knowledge to design complex systems which conform to applicable specifications and codes
  • Interprets and checks Supplier drawings and other discipline drawings for Communications & Security Systems needs and compatibilities of design
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist interprets the most complex Supplier data and other discipline drawings for Communications & Security Systems requirements and thoroughly checks for needs and compatibilities of design. Design Specialist is to bring to the Supervisor or Lead Designer's attention all noted discrepancies and recommended resolutions
  • Performs design calculations
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist performs all calculations accurately and presents them in a neat, detailed and orderly form for use in design and checking. These calculations include, but are not limited to, the following: link loss, space allocation, tray fill, conduit fill, and breaker sizing. Records will be kept for all calculations

  • Performs inspection of equipment as required
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist is able to determine, on inspection, that equipment conforms to specifications, purchase orders, and design requirements for the specific job application
  • Functions as a Lead Designer when required
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist, functioning as a Lead Designer, ensures that good drawing quality is maintained, issue dates are met according to the control schedules, the job is properly organized, the work is efficiently delegated, employee counseling is performed as required, and all necessary reports including performance reviews, are correctly prepared
  • Performs estimates
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist performs estimates in accordance with Fluor and/or client standards based on best available information. These estimates include, but are not limited to, the following: man-hour, cost, material, deviations, trends and drawing requirements
  • Completes work in the time allotted
  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist completes work assignments with a high degree of accuracy on or before a preset time allotted by the Supervisor or Lead Designer. If it becomes apparent that the assignment will extend beyond the time allotted, Design Specialist will promptly notify the Supervisor or Lead Designer

  • Performance is satisfactory when Design Specialist adheres to company policies and displays a professional attitude toward the Client, job, other Fluor disciplines, and Fluor
  • Individual may perform work above or below this classification

Structural Engineer

Location:  Greenville, SC; Hybrid supporting the Savannah River Site (SRS) located in Aiken, SC.

Compensation: $ 60.50 - $65.49 /Hour 

Mission: Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) located at the Savannah River Site (SRS) will construct the SRPPF through repurposing the unfinished Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF), Building 226-F. Repurposing this facility in F-Area allows the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to make use of an existing seismically-qualified structure, with numerous supporting facilities, including office, assembly and fabrication space; construction facilities; and existing SRS services and infrastructure, such as security, fire protection and emergency response.

  

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects
  • Prepare and review of calculations, drawings, and specifications relating to seismic and wind analyses, foundation design, structural framing analyses and design, and bracing analyses and design
  • Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required


Basic Job Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering
  • Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to structural engineering design
